  • Taj Mahal, One of the Seven Wonders in the World, needs no introduction to any person.
  • This masterpiece architecture was believed to be built by Emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj in District. Agra.
  • Believed to be built in 22 years and by 22000 workers ,cost of construction was around 32 million Indian currency in 16th century.
  • Architecture is such that four pillars leans outwards so that in case of natural calamity like earthquake, pillars do not fall on main structure.
  • It is believed that more than 25 type of stones were brought from different parts of Asia.
  • There are some controversies as well and some people believe that this magnificent building was once a temple of Lord Shiva and was forcefully restructured into a tomb.

Near Taj Mahal lies a mammoth structure of Agra fort, which is around 2.5 KM long and Emperor ShahJehan was believed to be captured by his own son in his last days.
