In Continuation to my previous post, State of Rajasthan is referred to as Land of Kings and you can experience the same in every nook and corner of state. Almost every part is bestowed with beautiful palaces, grand forts and temples . Continuing our journey from Jaipur we will walk through Jaisalmer, Udaypur and Jodhpur and other relevant places.

Jaisalmer- 
  • Jaisalmer is the place where you can experience true spirit of sand and related lifestyle.
  • You can either take a ride on four wheeler or experience camel safari.
  • Enchanting and breathtaking Jain temples will tell you story of different era and you will find yourself in awe of glorious richness of past.
  • Jaisalmer fort is one of the the largest fort in the world and falls into World Heritage Site. Built in 12th century, fort is situated on Trikuta Hills and between yellow sand and this is why Fort is known as Golden Fort.
  • Patwon ki Haweli is another mansion to mention, a palace built by influential local trader in past and is collection of five palaces for his sons.

Jodhpur-

  • Jodhpur's main attraction is fort of Mehrangargh which is one of the biggest forts in India.
  • Situated at height of 400 ft , some of the walls are 36 meters tall and 21 meters thick!
  • City is called as "Blue City" due to blue colored painted houses around fort.
  • Museum inside fort is one of the most preserved museums in Rajasthan and consists of arms, costumes, paintings and decorate rooms of that era.

Udaipur-

  • Udaipur is called "City of Lakes" and commonly referred to as Venice of East as well.
  • Like any other city in Rajasthan , Udaipur boast  of gigantic Kumbahlgarh Fort which has surrounding wall on perimeter and considered to be 36 km long, only second to Great Wall of China.
  • Other main hot spots are Jug Niwas, palace  built on island within Lake Pichola.
  • Shiv Nivas palace and Fateh Prakash palace were past era guest house for royal families.
  •  City palace is largest palace of its type giving panoramic view of city as well as hills
  •  Monsoon palace is palace better known for magnanimous views of city.

Hope you enjoyed the journey of three major cities of Rajashtan.
However Rajasthan is not only about these cities and there are many more attractions like Pushkar fair, Mount Abu the only hill station in Rajasthan , Ajmer, Chittourgarh and many more.
