In Continuation to my previous post, State of Rajasthan is referred to as Land of Kings and you can experience the same in every nook and corner of state. Almost every part is bestowed with beautiful palaces, grand forts and temples . Continuing our journey from Jaipur we will walk through Jaisalmer, Udaypur and Jodhpur and other relevant places.

Jaisalmer- 
  • Jaisalmer is the place where you can experience true spirit of sand and related lifestyle.
  • You can either take a ride on four wheeler or experience camel safari.
  • Enchanting and breathtaking Jain temples will tell you story of different era and you will find yourself in awe of glorious richness of past.
  • Jaisalmer fort is one of the the largest fort in the world and falls into World Heritage Site. Built in 12th century, fort is situated on Trikuta Hills and between yellow sand and this is why Fort is known as Golden Fort.
  • Patwon ki Haweli is another mansion to mention, a palace built by influential local trader in past and is collection of five palaces for his sons.

Jodhpur-

  • Jodhpur's main attraction is fort of Mehrangargh which is one of the biggest forts in India.
  • Situated at height of 400 ft , some of the walls are 36 meters tall and 21 meters thick!
  • City is called as "Blue City" due to blue colored painted houses around fort.
  • Museum inside fort is one of the most preserved museums in Rajasthan and consists of arms, costumes, paintings and decorate rooms of that era.

Udaipur-

  • Udaipur is called "City of Lakes" and commonly referred to as Venice of East as well.
  • Like any other city in Rajasthan , Udaipur boast  of gigantic Kumbahlgarh Fort which has surrounding wall on perimeter and considered to be 36 km long, only second to Great Wall of China.
  • Other main hot spots are Jug Niwas, palace  built on island within Lake Pichola.
  • Shiv Nivas palace and Fateh Prakash palace were past era guest house for royal families.
  •  City palace is largest palace of its type giving panoramic view of city as well as hills
  •  Monsoon palace is palace better known for magnanimous views of city.

  • History of Rajasthan dates back to Harappan Civilization and Saraswati River ,one of the holy rivers of the trinity(Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) , was flowing in this area.
  • As per scientific evidences ,this area was lush green in distant past and after drying up of river Saraswati, turned into desert.
  • At present, State of Rajasthan  is bestowed with great Indian desert and amazing tales of heroics of Indian Kings and their royal legacy.
  • Rajasthan is commonly referred to as "Land of Kings" and one can have glimpse of glorious past of state even today itself by visiting magnanimous fortes , palaces
  • Jaipur , the capital of Rajasthan falls under Golden Triangle, a tourist circuit  (New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) by Tourism department of India.

  • There are many culturally rich famous places/Cities  in Rajasthan to explore. 
  • We will start our journey from Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, and nicknamed as "Pink City " which is a major tourist destination.

  • City Palace of Jaipur comprises of Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal an amalgamation of Indian, Mughal and European architectural style.
  • Some part of these royal buildings have been converted to museums.
  • Inner carving and painting on the walls is worth watching.

  • Jal Mahal is a palace crafted in the middle of Man Sagar lake.
  • This place is surrounded by Arawali hills , the oldest mountains in India.

  • In Jaipur and surrounding areas , there are three ancient but exceptional Fortes built on top of Arawali Hills.
  • These three forts together formed solid ring of defense for city of Jaipur.
Amer Fort - 11 Km from Jaipur and built by Raja Man Singh and is one of the main attractions in Jaipur.
Jaigarh Fort-Can be reached moving to top of Hills and famous for biggest and heaviest cannons ever used in the world.
NaharGarh Fort- Historically this fort got never attacked due to ring of defense formed by other two forts.

  • Chand Baori is one of the largest and deepest step wells in India and is example of architectural excellence.
  • Built around 9th century AD and has 3500 steps.
  • Step Well is 13 story and is 100 feet deep.

Chauki Dhani is also an important destination/resort in Jaipur that should not to be missed  and provide tourist an opportunity to forget the outer world and live in pure Rajasthani way for couple of hours.

Apart from above mentioned architectural marvels,  amazing culture of Rajasthan is mesmerizing.
There is famous saying "Padharo Mhare Desh" which translate to Welcome to Rajasthan and this summarizes how tourist friendly people are there.
